Erin Kormann

SVP of Legal Operations & Legislative Counsel

Erin Kormann joined Virginia REALTORS® in 2015 and currently serves as SVP of Legal Operations & Legislative Counsel.

Erin works with the Government Relations Team to research potential legislative issues, draft legislation, and provide testimony during the legislative session. She also leads our team of attorneys as their Senior Vice President. In addition these roles, Erin serves as staff liaison to the Property Management Council. Her five years practicing law in conjunction with her seven years selling real estate make her the perfect fit for her current positions. To unwind and relax, she enjoys Italian food and traveling.


Jon Haley

Associate General Counsel

Virginia REALTORS®

As Associate General Counsel for Virginia REALTORS®, Jon is involved in every aspect of the association’s legal responsibilities. He works with the rest of the legal team to teach, create podcasts and legal videos, and draft legal briefs for the Supreme Court of Virginia. Jon graduated from the College of William and Mary and the University of Richmond School of Law, then clerked for a judge before starting at a large claims administration law firm. After spending several years with Virginia REALTORS®, he worked at a settlement company in the Fredericksburg area and gained valuable experience before coming back to VAR. He likes to cook and play music in his spare time, which is a rare commodity with two sons running around his house. He and his wife, Mandy, reside with their boys in Mechanicsville.


Santiago Montalvo

Santiago brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Virginia REALTORS®. Before going to law school, he served in the Army and in various roles in the Financial Industry and Engineering and Technology Industries. After graduating from American University Washington College of Law, he took his experience and worked as a solo practitioner as well as other roles with Engineering firms. He then joined as Staff Counsel for Virginia REALTORS®. As Staff Counsel, Santiago contributes to the Caveat REALTOR® podcast, creates legal resources for members, and serves on the Standard Forms Committee.

 

Sean Olk

Sean’s professional background includes both real estate and law. Prior to law school, he worked in various areas of the real estate industry, including as a REALTOR® in California. In 2016, Sean graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law. In addition to his J.D., he also earned a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution. Sean’s past legal practice focused on civil litigation where he handled cases ranging from personal injury to landlord-tenant disputes. As Staff Counsel, Sean strives to provide excellent service and counsel to the association and its members.

Shavon Gunnell

Professional Standards Director

Virginia REALTORS®

Shavon graduated from VCU in 2011 and began her career in government, working closely with the Virginia State Police in an investigative unit. She later joined the United States Air Force Reserve, where she served in an administrative role for a security forces unit. Realizing her true passion lay in the legal field rather than law enforcement, she pursued further education at the University of Richmond, graduating in 2021. Shavon then joined the Richmond City Attorney’s Office, focusing on special litigation for delinquent sales tax as part of the Tax Sale team, before transitioning to her role at Virginia REALTORS®.

Shavon and her husband have two beautiful kids. She loves spending time with her family, watching a good movie, traveling, and eating Italian, soul food or seafood.
