Continuing Education: Virtual Course / Ethics and Risks of AI / June 26, 2025 / 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

This one-hour course will provide an overview of artificial intelligence (A.I.), how it is impacting the real estate industry, and potential pitfalls to avoid when utilizing A.I. software. First, the course will breakdown what artificial intelligence is and how it might be used in the real estate business. The class will go through several real-life scenarios to apply the information learned. Next, the course will discuss the use of A.I. in the context of Fair Housing as well as in advertising. This will be followed by a discussion of the duty of confidentiality, breaches of that duty, and the use of A.I. in contracts. Finally, the course will conclude with a discussion of intellectual property and a Q&A session.

Ryan is a graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Virginia and Washington, DC.  He has a background working as an attorney in private practice, volunteering for legal organizations such as Legal Services of Northern Virginia, Legal Aid Society of San Diego, and Animal Legal Defense Fund, as well as experience in the private sector in a variety of non-legal fields.  When he is not working as Staff Counsel for Virginia REALTORS®, Ryan works as an adjunct professor of political science at Brightpoint Community College.
